Colonel Jerry A. Hallman USAF Ret., who served as Chairman of the Beaufort County Republican Party from 2011 through 2013 passed away on July 8, 2019 at his home in Gulfport, Florida.

There will be a Memorial Service in Hilton Head on August 19, 2018 at 3 PM at 540 William Hilton Parkway, Hilton Head Island, SC 29928

Gulfport, FL- Colonel Jerry A. Hallman, USAF (Ret) born on May 2, 1939 passed peacefully into eternal glory on July 8, 2018, at his home in Gulfport, Florida.

Jerry was the son of James Hubert Hallman and Estelle (Wilder) Hallman and the brother of Dena (Hallman) Patterson. He was raised in and attended high school in Fort Valley, Georgia. Jerry was on the Fort Valley High School football team for 4 years, serving as captain his senior year. He was also a member of FFA, HiY, the Drama Club, Glee Club, Key Club and Annual Staff.
Jerry was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Air Force upon graduation from Auburn University in 1963 and awarded his pilot wings at Moody AFB, GA in May 1964.

Capt. Jerry Hallman served his country as an F-100 pilot with the 510th Tactical Fighter Squadron at Bien Hoa AB, South Vietnam, from December 1968 to September 1969. In Vietnam, he flew as a Misty Fast FAC F-100F pilot. Jerry was Misty 118. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for distinguishing himself by extraordinary achievement as an F-100 pilot near Can Tho, Republic of Vietnam, on 27 March 1969, displaying professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty with complete disregard for his personal safety while participating in a close air support mission that saved many lives.

After his retirement in 1987, he continued to serve in various church, civic and community leadership roles.

Jerry was a loving husband to his wife Bonnie as well as a devoted father and grandfather. In addition to Bonnie, Jerry’s survivors include his children: Kimberly (Bob) Busby, Jeffrey (Joanne) Hallman, Stephani (Jeff) Wyatt, Jennifer Noble, Christine Carney and Julianne Carney. Jerry delighted in the love and accomplishments of his treasured grandchildren, Brandon (Michelle) Maldonado, Brooke Busby, Jason Busby, Jessica Brentnall, Jackson Noble, Avery Noble, Piper Noble, June Carney and a great granddaughter, Brinlee Maldonado. Jerry is also survived by his sister, Dena Patterson, brother-in-law, Joel and their daughter and grandchildren, Amanda, Cameron and Carly Smith.

Jerry touched the lives of many people with his warm smile and friendly nature. He maintained his trademark sense of humor and strong faith in God to the end. Services to remember and celebrate his life will be held at First Presbyterian Church Hilton Head Island, 540 William Hilton Parkway, Hilton Head Island, SC 29928 on August 19, 2018 at 3 PM.

Jerry will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors.
