First Monday Republicans Aug 6

Our next meeting will be on Monday, August 6th at Aunt Chiladas at noon.
As usual lunch including a beverage, tax and tip will be $12.00. Reservations
are not required.

Our featured speaker will be Mr. Everett (“Ted”) Briggs.

Ambassador Ted Briggs will talk on “How Obama Sold us Out on Cuba.”

Ted Briggs was born and raised in Cuba. He holds degrees from Dartmouth and George Washington
University. For 37 years he was a commissioned officer in the U.S. Foreign Service, with assignments
in eight countries overseas and to the State Department in Washington, DC.

Ted was Reagan’s ambassador to Panama and Honduras and served as George HW Bush’s senior
adviser on Latin and the Caribbean at the National Security Council. His last ambassadorial posting
was to Portugal.

After retiring from government in 1993, for five years he was president and CEO of two associated
New York organizations, the Americas Society of the Council of the Americas – the later representing
U.S. corporations with interests in Latin America.

Ted and his wife Sally discovered the Lowcountry by chance in 2013 and settled here –refugees from
Connecticut–last fall.

Ted and Sally live at the Cypress and has spoken here. He is a VERY engaging speaker.

Don’t miss it.
