The Executive Committee of the S.C. Beaufort County Republican Party passed unanimously a resolution in support of the proposed special transportation sales and use tax on September 20,2018 at the regular monthly meeting.

The exact wording of the resolution reads “Be it resolved that the Beaufort County Republican Party supports the proposed special transportation sales and use tax in the amount of one percent (1%) to be levied in Beaufort County for not more than Four (4) years, or until a total of $120,000,000. In resulting revenue has been collected whichever comes first.”

“This support is based on the commitment from Beaufort County Council that the sales tax proceeds can only be used legally for projects stated on the ballot.” (The resolution contained the exact wording of the projects and amounts as on the official ballot)

Sherri Zedd, Chair of the BCRP, stated that these funds are critical to our county due to the high growth and economic needs of the area. The funds would also qualify us for matching state and federal funds.
